First recycled leather material now available in the US

Eastern Textiles have introduced the first 'recycled leather’ product, Organics, to interior design firms, furniture manufacturers and a variety of specialty markets in the United States. Organics is made from 'post-industrial’ leather material and a manufacturing process that, the company claim, improves upon the characteristics of traditional leather.

According to Robert Fazekas, president, Organics fulfills a need for a material that fits into the sustainable products market while meeting and exceeding the specifications necessary for his customer base.

The manufacturing process consists of a woven polyester centre which delivers higher performance strength over traditional leather. Organics leather maintains a polyurethane topcoat offering a protective coating against abrasion, thereby making it ideal for the contract upholstery market. Organics is offered in a variety of colour palettes and is available for delivery in the US.
